COURSE DESCRIPTION
The purpose of this course is to enable students to solve problems involving two and three dimensional objects; students will understand reasoning and proofs and be able to solve problems involving right triangle trigonometry
COURSE GOALS/INTENDED OUTCOMES
These are the standards for the Geometry course as outlined by the Florida Department of Education.

TEXT and MATERIALS
Prentice Hall Geometry will be used in class. Online textbook:www.pearsonsuccessnet.com Come to class prepared to learn with pencil, Three ring binder, loose leaf paper, pencils, colored pencils, TI 30XII calculator and completed assignments.
FORMAT AND ACTIVITIES
Students must be present to participate in class discussion and to copy class notes. Additionally, students will be involved in cooperative learning activities that require students to work and problem solve in groups. Individual class work will be assigned.
GRADING PRACTICES AND PROCEDURES
Students will earn credit on tests, quizzes, class assignments, participation, notebook checks and homework assignments. Partial credit on tests and quizzes will also be given, stressing the importance for students to show all work.
Homework is important and is graded on a 5-point scale.
Students will earn:
5 points for homework complete and on time
4 points for homework that is 1 day late or incomplete
3 points for homework that is 2 days late or half complete
2 points for homework that is 3 days late
1 point for homework that is more than 3 days late
0 points for homework that is not turned in
All tests will be announced and posted at least three days in advance.
Tests – 40% of grade
Quizzes – 30% of grade
Class/Homework assignments – 30% of grade
Grades and homework assignments can be found on eSembler. Each quarter, the highest test score will be doubled and the lowest quiz and test score will be exempted.
ATTENDANCE AND TARDIES
We will follow the school-wide attendance and tardy policy. Excused absences guarantee students the right to make up any and all assignments/exams/projects assigned on the day[s] of absence at full credit. The student is responsible for asking the teacher for assignments/exams/projects within two class meetings with the teacher. Time for completion of make-up assignments/exams/ projects will be one full calendar day for each day missed. Work due to be turned in on the day of the excused absence will be turned in upon return and be given full credit. All other school board policies will be followed in class, they can be found in your planner.
CLASSROOM RULES AND PROCEDURES
We will follow the RAMS school-wide classroom expectations.

Cell phones are not to be used in class unless the teacher has approved it for appropriate use during a lesson.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Academic dishonesty (cheating or plagiarism), will result in a lowered grade on that particular assignment. Also, failure to properly complete assignments will naturally result in lower grades. The consequences may include, but are not limited to, the following: rewriting of the assignment, completion of another assignment/ exam, a zero percent grade for the exam/assignment, loss of class privileges, Saturday school or in-school suspension. **Refer to your student planner for a complete listing of rules set forth by the District School Board of Pasco County.
